Breast Cancer Screening
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in woman, and the second leading cause of cancer death among women. Each year, more than 40,000 women die from this disease. In a continued effort to increase awareness of breast cancer through education and affordable mammograms, Loretto Hospital offers discounted or free mammograms to qualified individuals.
Prostate Cancer Screening
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, no matter your race or ethnicity in the United States. Approximately 214,633 men in the United States are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. As with all types of cancers, the best opportunities for treatment is with early detection. The American Cancer Society recommends men receive a PSA screening by age 50, or by 40 if there is a family history of prostate cancer.
Loretto Hospital offers comprehensive PSA screenings through our James D. Montgomery Men’s Health Program.
Lung Cancer Screening
Although breast cancer is the leading cause of deaths among women and prostate cancer with men, lung cancer is the second most common cancer in both men and women. The American Cancer Society estimates about 222,500 new cases of lung cancer in the United States for 2017.
Understanding your risks of lung cancer can help you make informed, lifesaving decisions about your health. Although smoking tobacco is the number one cause of lung cancer, there are other risk factors that can cause it. Exposure to radon gas, secondhand smoke and a family history of lung cancer may also contribute to lung cancer.
