Diabetes Service

Diabetes is a chronic disease caused by high levels of sugar in your blood. The most common diabetes is type 2-diabetes, usually found in adults. Early symptoms of type 2-diabetes are usually subtle and can seem harmless.

Possible signs include:

• Increased thirst or frequent urination
• Fatigue
• Weight loss
• Blurred vision
• Slow-healing sores or frequent infections
• Tingling hands and feet
• Red, swollen, and tender gums

Through our Outpatient Center, Loretto Hospital offers comprehensive individualized diabetes clinic which includes: primary care, diabetes education, medication management, and nutrition management through our certfied diabetes nurse clinician.

The Loretto Hospital's Diabetes Education Program Recognized for Excellence by the American Diabetes Association (ADA)

This service meets the national standards for diabetes self-management education.
